The Academy for Leadership in Literacy Education (ALLE) is the pre-service branch of the Teacher/Leader Quality Partnerships program. ALLE collaborates with the Teacher Opportunity Corps (TOC) to sponsor the Akwesasne Conference and Museum of Natural History of the Adirondacks W!LD Center field trip, part of the Best Practices in Teaching seminar series. These seminars are designed to enrich the participants’ knowledge of the most effective educational methods and strategies to promote active student learning.
Additionally, ALLE collaborates with the School of Education and Professional Studies, the College Writing Center, Student Support Services, and Career Planning to provide the Write Well/Teach Well Series. This series is designed to help education majors improve their own writing skills as well as enhance their ability to instruct students in writing.
Pre-service teachers completing practicum or student teaching placements in our partner district, Salmon River Central School District, have the opportunity to participate in additional professional development activities, as well as to serve as tutors and mentors in the district’s after-school youth program.
Benefits of Participating in ALLE:
• Be part of a community of students who are reflective learners and teachers.
• Improve your writing, reading, speaking, listening and teaching skills.
• Receive free books related to literacy education and teaching.
• Gain a great entry for your resume.
TLQP provides professional development facilitation, research support and data analysis assistance for our partner district, Salmon River Central School. With the goal of improving student achievement, TLQP works with the district to design programs - with a special focus on literacy and technology - that meet the needs of students, faculty and families. Participants receive in-service credits, stipends, assistance with conference fees, books and curriculum materials to support teacher inquiry.
