Write Well Teach Well Series

This series is designed to help education majors improve their own writing skills as well as enhance their ability to instruct students in writing.


Participants will examine the writing process and develop effective strategies for creating powerful communication tools based on purpose and audience.

Additionally, participants will gain insight into key elements of writing conferences, such as:

  • Active Listening
  • Writing Ownership
  • Reflection
  • Evaluation
  • Participants may train to be writing tutors.


I. Student Teaching Application Workshops

Offered in September and February

A series of workshops designed to help you communicate your outstanding qualities to potential sponsor teachers as you submit your student teaching application packet.

  • A. Autobiographical Sketch
    The College Writing Center and ALLE staff lead an interactive workshop designed to help you brainstorm and reflect on your qualities as a future teacher. Learn what to include, and what not to include, as you introduce yourself to sponsoring districts. 
  • B. Resumes and Cover Letters
    Career Planning and Student Support Services professionals acquaint you with the dos and don'ts of effective, eye-catching cover letters and resumes. Learn the differences between education and business resume formats.
  • C. Writing Workshop
    Work one-on-one or in small groups with CWC tutors and professionals to refine your resume or autobiographical sketch before final submittal. Find out if you are connecting with your reader and getting your point across.



II. Sustained Peer Tutoring Program

Work over time with one tutor to improve your writing and your understanding of the potential of peer tutoring. Minimum of eight sessions recommended.
