Okuma Taiko

Mission Statement

Okuma Taiko's primary mission is to provide students with an opportunity to explore Japanese culture and music through Taiko drumming. It aims to teach the students of SUNY Potsdam to embody the Eastern philosophy of "ki," or spiritual energy, through its physically active playing style. Taiko also strives to promote Japanese cultural awareness in the community.

Organizational Goals

We hope to raise Japanese cultural awareness in the Potsdam community as well as connect and collaborate with other student groups on campus. Being a part of Potsdam Okuma Taiko is like being a part of a family on campus.
