ODK recognizes and encourages superior scholarship, leadership, and exemplary character.  The campus chapters (known as Circles) include juniors, seniors, graduate students, alumni, faculty and professional staff and honorary members that have distinguished themselves in the areas of scholarship; athletics; campus or community service, social and religious activities or campus government; journalism; speech or the mass media; creative and performing arts.  There are over 330 Circles across the United States.  The local recognition effort began in 1994 with the creations of the Maroon Key Society.  In 2001, the local group was chartered as part of Omicron Delta Kappa.
