How to Start a Club

Have an idea for a new club? Go for it! SUNY Potsdam's SGA welcomes new clubs/teams.

 

At SUNY Potsdam, we encourage our students to pursue their ideas and quite often we see those ideas evolve into clubs and organizations.

Whether the focus is making a difference, forming a team or gathering like-minds together to share ideas, SUNY Potsdam is the place to make it happen!

Ideally, students should go through the steps to get their club recognized by the Student Government Association (SGA). The benefits to being an SGA recognized group are twofold:

  1. Your group will gain credibility and this is needed in order to achieve group goals and 
  2. Once you are recognized, you are eligible for funding and can sign out rooms in the Barrington Student Union for group meetings/events.

In order to get started, you'll need to download the SGA Recognized Club Application and complete it with your group members.
