Public Affairs manages all aspects of the College’s public relations, from gathering information and sending press releases to pitching stories to reporters and dealing with queries from journalists, as well as releasing statements.

The office works to foster good relationships with a variety of media outlets in an effort to raise awareness about the College. Media coverage has the potential to raise the profile of SUNY Potsdam and its faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends by extension. 

Need help with publicity?

• Press releases: We require at least three weeks of lead time in order to send a press release about an event. Coverage is at the office’s discretion. To request that the College send out a press release, fill out the appropriate online form.
• Pitching a story to the media: Contact Alexandra Jacobs at (315) 267-2114 to tell her about your idea; we are in constant contact with reporters and may be able to get in touch with the right outlet to publicize your news.
