The Computer Science Department off ers a Bachelor of Arts degree
with concentrations in computer science and information systems.
Our curriculum continues to respond to advances in technology and
the needs of business and industry. A Board of Advisers, drawn in part
from 3,500 alumni, meets twice a year to review and support initiatives
and to help shape the department's future. Students can benefi t from
practical experience through alumni-sponsored internships.
In addition to the Computer and Information Sciences (CIS) major,
we off er a minor in computer science and an interdisciplinary minor
in informatics.

Capstone Experience
Each student completing the BA in CIS is required to engage in a cap-
stone experience. To complete this requirement, a student prepares a
formal proposal for approval by the CIS faculty, performs the proposed
work, and presents written and oral reports to the CIS Department.
Some students choose to complete their capstone experience while
engaged in an internship.
