Given the unprecedented circumstances surrounding COVID-19, the LoKo Arts Festival on the SUNY Potsdam campus has been cancelled. We are deeply disappointed that we are unable to showcase the hard work of so many talented people. However, the health and safety of our students, faculty, staff, visiting artists and the community is the top priority during this public health challenge.
We acknowledge the disappointment of the lost opportunity to experience the arts together and the hard work you have already put into LoKo Festival events. If your performance or work was part of a class curriculum, please follow your faculty member’s guidance on how to best proceed.
We hope to find creative ways to celebrate the arts and the spirit of LoKo through online sources. More information will follow in the coming weeks.
Faculty & Staff
The deadline to apply for LoKo 2021 funding has been extended to Friday, May 1. We anticipate that a one-month extension will give departments ample time to figure out how plans already in place for next year are impacted or changed given the Festival cancellation this spring. If you plan to re-invite an artist impacted from this year’s cancellation, please coordinate with those in your department who also plan to invite artists for 2021.
Lastly, we hope to showcase student work and creativity on the LoKo Festival social media sites in the coming months. As you move your curriculum online or are in contact with students, please let us know if there is a way for us to work together to showcase the arts.
Visiting Artists & Community
All of our Visiting Artists have been notified about the Festival cancellation, and we hope to welcome them to our campus in the future. We hope all our artist friends are home and safe with family.
To our North Country community and business partners, we wish you health, safety and a return to normalcy as soon as possible. We look forward to working with you again and celebrating the arts during LoKo 2021.
