A member of the Association of College Honor Societies, Lambda Pi Eta (LPH) was started by students of the Department of Communication at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 1985. Lambda Pi Eta became a part of the National Communication Association (NCA) in 1988, and the official honor society of the NCA in July 1995. Our Delta Omicron Chapter was founded shortly after that.

The purposes of the Society according to its constitution are:

  • To recognize, foster, and reward outstanding scholastic achievement
  • To stimulate interest in the field of communication
  • To provide an opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas in the field of communication
  • To promote and encourage professional development among communication majors
  • To establish and maintain close relationships and mutual understanding between faculty and students
  • To explore options for further graduate education
