Over 50 years ago, Dr. Donald Clifton asked, “What would happen if we studied what was right with people versus what is wrong with people?” Based on this question, he and Dr. George Gallup created CliftonStrengths, a leadership approach focused on helping people lead with their natural abilities. CliftonStrengths begins with an on-line assessment that identifies your top five talents. After completion, participants will watch a series of videos and complete a reflection activity aimed at helping them to identify ways in which their talents can serve as both a strength and a barrier. In addition, they will be able introduced to how their strengths can work in team settings and how to begin to develop complementary partnerships.
- Participants will be able to recognize ways in which their talents can serve as a strength.
- Participants will be able to recognize ways in which their talents can serve as a barrier.
- Participants will be able to describe ways in which their strengths can assist them in team settings.
- Participants will be able to explain the value of complementary partnerships.
Summit Competencies Covered:
Leadership: Understand and leverage personal strengths and those of others to achieve shared goals and make a difference, whether as positional leaders or active participants in a group or community process. Leadership development involves self-awareness and understanding the values and diverse perspectives of others. Additionally, leadership requires building a wide variety of skills to enhance one’s ability to establish purpose and work collaboratively with others.
Teamwork/Collaboration: Build collaborative relationships with colleagues representing diverse perspectives. The individual is able to identify their role within a team structure and can negotiate and manage team dynamics.
This workshop counts for Explore Leadership Development.
