Conflict may be present in many of our relationships, but we often ignore it the situation because we don’t want to cause trouble for anyone. But ignoring the situation may ultimately make you more frustrated than addressing the situation head on. In this session we will discuss conflict and students will learn effective communication skills, strategies for managing their own response during a conflict, and various strategies for resolving conflict.
- Students will learn communication skills including active listening, paraphrasing and non-verbal communication.
- Students will learn strategies for managing their own response during a conflict and examine ways to reduce stress and ease emotions.
- Students will learn various strategies for resolving conflict (avoiding, competing, accommodating, collaborating, and compromising) and to determine which strategy will be must helpful in a given situation.
