Potsdam Prepared: Fall 2021 Updates
**Applications for Facul-TE funding have been postponed for the 2020-21 academic year.  Faculty will receive notification when these awards have been restored and applications then may be submitted.

The Facul-TE Awards (maximum $500) are intended to support faculty teaching excellence projects directly related to professional development in improving teaching and learning.  All faculty, including adjunct faculty, are eligible to apply.

Primary Award Criteria

The proposed professional development project must be clearly conducive to the improvement of teaching in the classroom and college environment.  Applicants must clearly articulate how the proposed professional development experience will positively impact their teaching and their students’ learning.  Proposals that do not specifically articulate how the project will positively change the faculty’s pedagogy will not be considered.  Funds may be used for participating at workshops or conferences, online faculty development courses, as well as sponsoring on-campus workshops or speakers for faculty.  Funds for purchasing equipment and supplies are not eligible.

Application and Review Process

**Applications for Facul-TE funding have been postponed for the 2020-21 academic year.  Faculty will receive notification when these awards have been restored and applications then may be submitted.

To apply:

  1. Download and complete the Facul-TE Application form (select the download button
    if necessary).
  2. Email the application to FaculTE@potsdam.edu by the deadline listed in the table above.

Applications will be reviewed by a committee of CCI Board members.

  • From all applications that clearly explain the activity’s positive impact to their students’ learning, awardees will be randomly selected.

Award Policies

  • Funding cannot be released unless required travel paperwork is completed and travel guidelines are followed.  You must complete travel paperwork BEFORE attending any event.  Access travel paperwork from Purchasing & Payables and submit such paperwork directly to them.  Questions regarding travel policies/procedures can be directed to Purchasing & Payables (315-267-2140; http://www.potsdam.edu/offices/purchasing/travel).

  • Please note: Facul-TE Awards are funded by a state account. Therefore, travel paperwork for the use of these funds will be required to go through SUNY review and approval if the conference/workshop is out of state and/or if more than two people from our campus are planning to attend the same event (whether or not all receive state funding).

  • The maximum award is $500.

  • Applicants may not receive an award in two consecutive academic years.

  • Awardees are encouraged to share the knowledge and skills gained from their Facul-TE project with the campus community. The CCI will happily sponsor a workshop or event facilitated by the awardee or to video-record a brief interview with the awardee regarding the project.

  • The annual Facul-TE Award allocation will be distributed as evenly as possible into three pools of funding.

  • Unused funds will be reallocated to a subsequent portion of the same fiscal year.

  • Funding will be allocated to the fiscal year in which the funds are spent (the fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30).

    • Should a project include a component that bridges fiscal years (such as a hotel expense incurred from June 29 – July 2), the fiscal year will be based on the date on which the funded activity commences.
