McMenimen earns second Goalie of the Week honor

POTSDAM, N.Y.—SUNY Potsdam men's hockey player Brendan McMenimen (Merrimack, Mass./Islander Hockey Club) has been named the State University New York Athletic Conference's Goalie of the Week for the second time this season. The sophomore also earned the honor on Nov. 16. McMenimen guided the Bears to a 1-0-1 SUNYAC weekend with a 1.92 goals-against-average and a .933 save percentage. On Friday night, he stopped 26 shots in a 3-3 tie with Cortland. The following evening, McMenimen made 30 saves as the Bears completed a season sweep of Oswego and clinched a playoff spot with a 2-1 win.

Bears rally past Oswego to clinch playoff berth

POTSDAM, N.Y.—Senior forward Jake Rivera (Pacific Palisades, Calif./Hartford Wolfpack) and junior Vinny Caligiuri (Shoreham, N.Y./Hartford Wolfpack) each scored third period period goals to lift the the SUNY Potsdam men's hockey team (11-7-4, 7-4-2 SUNYAC) to a 2-1 victory over Oswego State (10-9-2, 7-6-1) on Saturday night. The victory clinches a playoff berth for the Bears and moves them past the Lakers into third place.

Red Dragons hold off Bears

POTSDAM, N.Y.—SUNY Oneonta (13-7, 8-5 SUNYAC) defeated the SUNY Potsdam men's basketball team (1-19, 1-12) ­­84-68 at Jerry Welsh Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. Senior guard Joe Estramonte (Greenwich, N.Y./Greenwich) and freshman forward Serigne Kane (Brooklyn, N.Y./Brooklyn Prep) each scored 16 points to lead the Bears. Senior forwards Mikey McElroy (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) and Lawrence Coleman (Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson) paced the Red Dragons with 25 and 20 points, respectively.

Hawks ground Potsdam on Bear Pride Night

POTSDAM, N.Y.- Slow start for the SUNY Potsdam women's basketball team (1-18, 0-12 SUNYAC) leads to 83-52 defeat from SUNY New Paltz (14-5, 9-3 SUNYAC). Freshman guard Secret Clark (Bronx, N.Y./NYC Charter for A.E.C.I.) led the Bears with 16 points, while senior forward Katie LaVoie (Malone, N.Y./Franklin Academy) added 15. Sophomore guard Jasmine Bryant (Elmont, N.Y./St. Mary's College Prep) led the Hawks with 15 points and freshman guard Lindsay Bettke (Pelham, N.Y./The Ursuline School) tacked on 14.
