On March 12th in Snell Theater at 7:30pm, Donald George will be presenting the music of the great German composer Hermann Zilcher (1881-1948). His music was neglected after WWII but his beautiful compositions are now experiencing a rebirth. Most of the pieces involved in this concert will be USA first performances, including his Rokoko Suite, The Inebriated Astronomers, The Tragic Adagio, Variations on a Theme of Mozart, Songs and an excerpt from his German Folksong set. Other Crane musicians will be involved in this review of Zilcher’s works with Professor Erin Brooks narrating. They will be: François Germain, Marie- Élaine Gagnon, Jerilyn Jorgensen, Nancy Hull, Michael Sitton, Autumn Capocci, Jonathan Stinson, Margaret Chalker, Julie Miller and a men’s quartet.
