Dear Students,
It is with deep regret that SUNY Potsdam must postpone our traditional 2020 Commencement Ceremony, scheduled for May 23, given the Governor’s executive order temporarily banning all non-essential gatherings of any size, for any reason. While this was not an easy decision, we know that it is in the best interest of our students, our faculty and staff, and your families, to ensure that everyone remains safe.
Please know that SUNY Potsdam has every intention of finding a way to celebrate the Class of 2020, and our Commencement Committee will be meeting soon to explore options to ensure that our graduating seniors are honored.
However, we want your input, as this is YOUR celebration. Please take a moment to fill out this brief survey.
In the meantime, you may want to still order regalia for photos, videos, social media and private celebrations. If you would like to order a cap, gown, tassel, honor cords, diploma frames, etc., you can place your order online by May 1. Orders of $50 or more will receive free shipping when using coupon code freeship20 at check out until on May 31, 2020. There are no returns of items.
We are all deeply saddened by the necessity of this decision. Commencement is the highlight of the academic year at SUNY Potsdam. Just know that we are so proud of all of you, and look forward to celebrating your accomplishments when it’s safe.
