May 14: Stay Strong Bears

Dear Students,

I hope that you are holding up as you wrap up your studies this semester, in the midst of so much uncertainty and change. All of us at SUNY Potsdam are thinking of you and wishing you well. We miss your vibrant presence, especially during what would normally be the busiest time of the academic year.

Even as parts of New York State slowly begin to reopen, the public health battle against the coronavirus is long from over. As a result of our experiences during this global health pandemic, I believe that we will forever be changed. We have been pushed to think differently about how we teach, learn and work. We have also been forced to think differently about our relationships with one another. It is my hope that we emerge from this a kinder, more generous society. Indeed, the Potsdam Pledge has never felt more relevant.

Please be confident that no matter what the future holds, we are here for you and will help to guide you, as you make your own path forward. Our academic mission remains the same, and we will do everything in our power to ensure that you are able to succeed and meet your goals, no matter how lofty.

A team of dedicated faculty and staff have been calling each and every SUNY Potsdam student to check in and see if you need additional support. If you haven’t received a call yet and aren’t sure where to go with your concerns, please view our resources online.

Stay strong, Bears… We miss you all, and wish you and your loved ones the best of health.

Sincerely,

Kristin G. Esterberg, Ph.D.
