We hope this email finds you well and adjusting to distance learning. These are very challenging times for all of us and there is a lot to get used to.
We wanted to reach out to provide some information related to housing and retrieval of belongings. As you likely know by now, Governor Cuomo signed the New York State on PAUSE Executive Order over the weekend. This order takes the strongest actions to date to contain the growing spread of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19. We are all responsible for adhering to these expectations and working to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
As such, we are not currently allowing students to come collect their belongings. In order to protect us all, students who show up without permission will be turned away without being able to collect their belongings.
If you still have belongings in your room, you will be allowed to keep them in your room. Once restrictions are lessened and it is safer for people to travel around the state, we will work to schedule appointments for people to collect their belongings.
In the meantime, all residential students will be required to complete a virtual check-out by Sunday, April 5 at 11:59 p.m. You will be able to indicate that you are waiting to collect your belongings on this form.
The College is still working with SUNY regarding the refund/credit for your room and board. We expect that there will be more information provided by the end of the week. We appreciate your continued patience as we work through this.
While you are not physically in the Residence Halls, we are still here to support you. If you have questions or concerns during this time, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Please make sure that you are also checking in to find the most up-to-date information for Residence Life and SUNY Potsdam’s efforts related to COVID-19.
All my best,
