June 17th - Daylight Hour

Join the Physical Plant and Sustainability office and many more offices as we participate in the Daylight Hour Global Initiative by Turning Off The Lights in our day-lit offices and spaces on Friday, June 17 from Noon - 1 p.m. Individual offices can sign up by online.

Help raise awareness of the role daylight can play in lighting offices and reducing the campus environmental footprint.

Last June, several SUNY campuses participated in the Daylight Hour global initiative, where for one hour, offices turned off lights in day-lit spaces to raise awareness about the role daylight can play in lighting offices and reducing the campus environmental footprint. In one hour, the energy savings was the equivalent of the energy used to power fifteen New York households for a year.

In 2016, let's make #daylighthour a trend and raise awareness about the use of natural light in lieu of electric lighting. You can find more information on the website, which features participants, educational resources, and engagement tools for you to share with friends and colleagues.
