Assessment is a crucial component of the process to assist the campus in the achievement of its most important goals and outcomes.SUNY Potsdam has developed and implemented an assessment process that evaluates its overall effectiveness in achieving its mission and goals.
According to the MSCHE Characteristics of Excellence in Higher Education, "The effectiveness of an institution rests upon the contribution that each of the institution's programs and services makes toward achieving the goals of the institution as a whole. "Assessment information should be used as a basis for assessing the institution's effectiveness in achieving its stated goals, for monitoring and improving the environment for student learning, and for enhancing overall student success."
The SUNY Potsdam Office of Institutional Effectiveness provides support with the ongoing efforts of continuous improvement and effectiveness of the College's operations and quality of student learning outcomes through assessment. OIE will achieve this by providing support to all administrative and academic units through guidance in assessment, survey development, data collection, and analysis.
