Winter Session

Prepayment Required

For any students who register for a Winter Session 2018 course between October 16 and December 8th, payment will be due by December 12th. A student bill considered unpaid as of December 14th will have registration cancelled.

Students who register after December 8th must pay in full with Student Accounts prior to being registered.

Add/Drop/Withdraw & Liability Schedule

Online Session (December 20, 2017 - January 17, 2018)
Last day to add a class – Wednesday, December 20
Last day to drop a class – Thursday, December 21
Last day to withdraw from a class or elect S/U for a class – Thursday, January 11
Drop a class on December 20 or 21 – 0% liability
Drop a class on or before December 26 – 50% liability
After December 26 – 100% liability

Campus Session (January 3 - January 17, 2018)
Last day to add a class – Wednesday, January 3
Last day to drop a class – Thursday, January 4
Last day to withdraw from a class or elect S/U for a class – Thursday, January 11
Drop a class on January 3 or 4 - 0% liability
Drop a class on January 5-9 - 80% liability
After January 9 - 100% liability

How to Drop a Winter Session 2018 Course

  • Matriculated SUNY Potsdam students may Web Drop their courses through their BearPAWS account through December 8, 2017.  After this date, web registration will be turned off.
  • Graduate students should contact the Center for Graduate Studies to drop a course.
  • All course drop requests are required to be in writing.  If you are not able to web-drop, you can request that the Graduate and Continuing Education drop the course for you.  You may do this in the following ways:
    • Send us an Email – Email gradcon@potsdam.edu.   Please include your name, Potsdam ID number (P#), and the name and CRN of the course you wish to drop.
    • In person – Come in to the Division of Graduate and Continuing Education, 206 Raymond Hall.  You can complete an Add/Drop form and we will remove the course from your schedule.

Course Cancellation Policy

We have designated a number of courses that WILL NOT be cancelled due to low enrollment (Guaranteed Courses).  Non-Guaranteed Courses with low enrollment will be cancelled on or before December 8th for the online session.  For on campus courses, classes with low enrollments will be cancelled on or before December 20th. If your course is cancelled, we will make every attempt to contact you by phone and/or your campus e-mail address. Please be sure to check your e-mail on a regular basis. If your course is cancelled and you would like to register for another course, please contact the Division of Graduate and Continuing Education.

Please note the holiday hours for the Division of Graduate and Continuing Education and plan accordingly!  If the office is not open on the day that you would like to drop your course, please email us at gradcon@potsdam.edu.  Courses will be dropped effective the date of your email.

December 27th - 29th: 10am - 2pm
January 1st: Closed
January 2nd: Regular hours resume
