Music Theory and/or Music History

The Musical Studies – Music Theory and Music History degree tracks allow students to focus on the scholarly study of music. Students focus on any area with musicology, ethnomusicology or musical analysis. Through the breadth and depth gained as a result of undergraduate research, students are better prepared to apply to graduate schools, become effective music educators, or pursue an advanced performance degree. As a capstone experience, students pursue their own research of a topic of choice with a faculty advisor. Musical Studies majors may pursue a variety of careers, including working in higher education, librarianship, publishing or music criticism.
