Application Process

We evaluate applications on a rolling basis. So, the sooner you apply, the sooner you will have your decision! 

You can apply to SUNY Potsdam online through the SUNY Application Services Center. If you would prefer to apply for transfer admission by mail, you can complete the application in the SUNY Application Viewbook. It should be mailed directly to the SUNY Application Services Center, State University Plaza, Albany, NY 12246-0001. There is a fee of $40 (however, if you are transferring directly to Potsdam having earned an associate degree at a two-year SUNY or CUNY, the application fee is waived).

If you have completed fewer than 30 semester hours of college-level course work prior to transfer or have earned between a 2.0-2.25 grade point average, a high school transcript (or GED if applicable), SAT/ACT scores and a supplemental application may also be required for admission.

We encourage early applications for transfer students... before March 1st for the fall semester and before December 1st for the spring semester. Early acceptance insures full consideration for access to limited enrollment programs, as well as full consideration for financial aid, scholarships, early class registration and housing preferences.
