What is BearPAWS?
BearPAWS is a web interface:

  • for students to register for courses, view class schedule, view financial information, search college class schedule, sign up for a meal plan/dorm room
  • for faculty/staff to view rosters, submit grades, view teaching schedule, view advising information, search college class schedule

When is BearPAWS available?
BearPAWS is typically available with the exception for the scheduled backup maintenance on Saturday mornings from 1 a.m. to approximately 5 a.m.

What if I forget my password or for some reason it no longer works?
If you have forgotten your password, please refer to the Campus Computer Account web page for details on how to reset your password.

What if my initial password does not work?
Please refer to the Campus Computer Account web page for details concerning password and login issues.

Who should I contact if I am having technical problems?

  • If you are having hardware, software and/or network problems with your computer, please contact the IT Service Desk by phone at 267-4444 or by e-mail at itservicedesk@potsdam.edu.
  • If you are having problems with BearPAWS, please send a brief e-mail to: bearpaws@potsdam.edu and make sure to include the date and the time the problem(s) occurred.

Who should I contact with questions concerning my student records?
Please contact the office or person that is responsible for maintaining the record in question, such as your instructor if the question is about a grade, or email the Financial Aid Office if it's about financial aid. If you are not sure please email the Registrar's Office for assistance.

What should I do if a link doesn't work?
First, check to see if your browser is caching the page. Try holding the shift key down and clicking the refresh or reload icon in your browser. This will force your browser to load a new page from the server. If this problem persists, please send a brief e-mail to: bearpaws@potsdam.edu and make sure to include a description of the link, and the date and the time the problem(s) occurred.

Why does BearPAWS log me off after 30 minutes of inactivity?
After a 30 minute period of inactivity, your browser session will be closed in order to protect access to your information. After the session has been closed, if you want to continue, you will need to log on again.

Why should I close my browser when I am finished with BearPAWS?
This is the best way to protect your information from other people. It prevents others from viewing or changing your records.
