SUNY Potsdam to Host Anthropology Talk by Visiting Scholar Dr. Catherine Cameron

SUNY Potsdam will welcome the visiting scholar Dr. Catherine M. Cameron, professor emerita of anthropology at the University of Colorado, Boulder, for a public talk on Thursday, Oct. 12 at 7:30 p.m., in the Raymond Hall eighth floor lounge.  Her talk, “Captives and Culture Change in Ancient Small-Scale Societies,” is sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities Faculty Development Program. This event is free, and the public is invited to attend. 

Potsdam College Foundation Names New Trustees

The Potsdam College Foundation Board of Trustees has named two accomplished and dedicated SUNY Potsdam alumni as its new trustees. Trustees welcomed Tiffany Soricelli ’06 and Brooks Washburn (Hon. ’23) as their newest colleagues, as they work collectively to foster giving in support of SUNY Potsdam.

High School Students to Explore Social Sciences at SUNY Potsdam

SUNY Potsdam is set to host more than 200 North Country high school students for a daylong Social Studies Field Trip Day on Wednesday, Oct. 18.  Students will get the chance to choose from engaging activities, learning from faculty and students in SUNY Potsdam’s programs across the social sciences and humanities. Students from Colton-Pierrepont, Edwards-Knox, Malone, Massena and Norwood-Norfolk high schools will be in attendance.

Academic Advisor Vacancy

The College is accepting on-line applications for full-time, temporary Academic Advisor in support of our new Accelerate, Complete, Engage (ACE) Program.  ACE is a new degree completion program designed to increase timely graduation rates by removing the financial, academic, and personal obstacles that many students face.  The ACE Advisor is a member of an integrated college team providing individual academic and personal support to a group of 150 students as they progress through the program. 

Play Based on George Orwell’s ‘1984’ Comes to SUNY Potsdam Mainstage

The SUNY Potsdam Department of Theatre and Dance will bring the classic dystopian novel “1984” to the Performing Arts Center’s Proscenium Theater, in a completely immersive multi-media experience, showing from Oct. 26 to 29.
