Students and professionals engage in creative problem solving requiring the setting and meeting of long-term goals and the analysis and understanding movement and dramatic literature.
Faculty and students work closely in support of our active production program which includes productions that are directed and choreographed by students, faculty members, and guest artists. These include ten-minute and one-act play festivals, faculty dance concerts, full-length plays and student choreographers' concerts.

"The Theatre and Dance Department at SUNY Potsdam was a place of support and exploration. I was able to try so many new and exciting things, acting in a main stage, directing a new play script, being a part of a touring ensemble and a semester long study abroad. I was encouraged to push boundaries and to think outside the box. My experiences through the department have forever shaped me in how I view the world around me, and how I am able express this unique view to others."
