Adjunct Instructor: Long Island Area Off-Campus Teaching Supervisor
David P. Cerullo has been an active music educator for over 50 years. He received his Bachelor of Music from the Crane School of Music, SUNY Potsdam in 1974. He then received his master's in liberal studies from SUNY Stony Brook with a music concentration in Orff/Kodaly. He received his professional diploma in school district administration from Dowling College, School of education.
Mr. Cerullo was the director of Fine Arts and Music Education at Connetquot Central School District of Islip. He was responsible for observing over 50 teachers in art and music education. Mr. Cerullo taught High School symphonic band, marching band, jazz ensemble at Connetquot High School. He has taught at Massapequa High School teaching concert band, marching band and jazz ensemble. He taught at Lindenhurst Junior high school teaching seventh, eighth and nineth grade band. He also worked with the marching band and jazz ensemble in the Lindenhurst School district. David Cerullo began his teaching career at W.S Mount Elementary school in Three Village School District. Mr. Cerullo taught fifth and sixth grade band and jazz band.
Mr. Cerullo is the past president of SCMEA (Suffolk County Music educators association), Past president of NYSCAME (New York State Council association for music education) for Suffolk County and New York State. Mr. Cerullo currently is a NYSSMA all state woodwind adjudicator, NYSSMA major organization adjudicator, NYSSMA Zone 14 Suffolk County representative for 14 years.
Mr. Cerullo is currently the facilitator/supervisor of student teachers Long Island east for the Crane School of Music, SUNY Potsdam. Mr. Cerullo has been in this position since 2016.
Mr. Cerullo has a strong passion for working with student teachers and administrators in the school districts in which the student teachers are located. Mr. Cerullo also works very closely with the professors and college administrators to help his students achieve success.
