Dr. Marcolina's two decades of experience as a high school social studies teacher, dean of students, and building principal shape her approach to higher education. She is passionate about empowering the next generation of teachers, particularly those who will be serving in high poverty contexts. Dr. Marcolina's research redefines teachers' work beyond the boundaries of the traditional classroom, extending to the extracurricular activities so central to rural school-community culture. Her additional research interests include social studies education, school leadership, and educational policy.
