Camping in the Quad

Join us for a camping experience in the Academic Quad! Students from the Wild Ed department will assist you in setting up and taking down your tent. Our goal is to introduce camping to those who may not have tried it before, so we're hosting the event in a familiar location with familiar faces. On Friday night, we'll have s'mores, mac 'n' cheese, and games. On Saturday morning, we'll provide breakfast snacks.

Be sure to carefully read the entire information list before registering!

If there are not any spots left when registering, register anyway and we will contact you! 

 

Camping in the Quad Info List- PLEASE READ ALL OF IT BEFORE REGISTERING

What will be provided: 

• Tent (1-2 people per tent)
• Tent Pole 
• Assistance setting up the tent 
• Ground Tarp 
• Sleeping Bag 
• Sleeping Pad 

What to bring: 

**We will run the event rain or shine, check the weather and bring proper clothing!**

• You can partner up with someone as the tents hold 1-2 people, stay by yourself, or partner with someone else at the event
• Clothing: Bring a lot of LAYERS, gloves, hat, extra socks, etc. 
• Water bottle 
• We will have some food and snacks but you are also encouraged to eat dinner beforehand!
• Pillow 

What to expect: 

• Games and campfire: 6:30 pm-whenever (Friday)
• Dinner and smores: 8 pm (Friday)
• Breakfast snacks: 9 am (Saturday)
• Hot cocoa and apple cider
• No drugs or alcohol permitted 
• Temps reach a low in the 40’s, but don’t worry! We have nice, toasty, winter sleeping bags!
• Wild Ed students will help you set up and take down your tent and answer any questions you have 
• Access to bathrooms 

Tips on staying warm: 

• Move around! 
• Go on a walk or do some jumping jacks before you get into your sleeping bag- don’t get in your bag cold!
• Layering with a baselayer (thin athletic or thermal wear) and several sweaters 
• Go to the bathroom before you go to bed
