Literacy Learning in Action Workshop: Phonemic Awareness vs. Phonics in Pre-K

This workshop is sponsored by the St. Lawrence Valley Teacher Learning Center and is open to all education students. It is part of a Literacy Learning in Action Workshop series that will be held throughout the academic year. Participants will include SUNY Potsdam students and staff, as well as local teachers! Please join us for this professional workshop to deepen your literacy instructional practice.

Discover the key differences between phonemic awareness and phonics, and how to integrate both into your teaching. This workshop will include interactive activities like rhyming games, sound segmentation, and blending exercises. You’ll also collaborate with peers to create phonics games and songs that can be easily implemented in the Pre-K classroom.
