Literacy Learning in Action Workshop: Unboxing a Program: Teacher Manual 101

This workshop is sponsored by the St. Lawrence Valley Teacher Learning Center and is open to all education students. It is part of a Literacy Learning in Action Workshop series that will be held throughout the academic year. Participants will include SUNY Potsdam students and staff, as well as local teachers! Please join us for this professional workshop to deepen your literacy instructional practice.

Get overwhelmed when starting with a new program or want to take a peek at an explicit/systematic phonics program? This session will help you navigate literacy kits and teacher manuals, breaking down the materials and steps needed to implement them successfully. Participants will practice unpacking a curriculum kit and creating a week’s worth of lesson plans. You’ll leave with strategies for getting the most out of your resources and making planning easier and more efficient.
