Literacy Learning in Action Workshops: Sight Words as Heart Words

This workshop is sponsored by the St. Lawrence Valley Teacher Learning Center and is open to all education students. It is part of a Literacy Learning in Action Workshop series that will be held throughout the academic year. Participants will include SUNY Potsdam students and staff, as well as local teachers! Please join us for this professional workshop to deepen your literacy instructional practice.

This workshop will shift your approach to sight words, focusing on making them more meaningful and memorable through the Science of Reading approach. We’ll explore the concept of “heart words” and create hands-on activities for you to try, including student resources, games, and procedures to reinforce the learning of these tricky words.
