IRA Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs)
BackgroundThe Pension Protection Act of 2006 created the Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD), allowing owners aged 70½ or older of traditional and Roth IRAs the ability to distribute directly to certain public charities (including SUNY Potsdam) up to $100,000 per year without the distribution being included as taxable income, but allowing it to count towards the annual required minimum distribution (RMD). The Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes Act of 2015 (PATH) extended and made permanent qualified charitable distributions.

Lights, Camera, Action
As the band plays, Erika Murata ’22 brushes the curtain aside and strolls onto the set of “Late Night with Seth Meyers.” There’s no audience and the cameras aren’t rolling yet, but she assumes the role of a guest—working with the audio engineers and the house band to prepare for the show.

Barrington Student Union
The Barrington Student Union is the hub of campus life and the official home to 100 student clubs and organizations at SUNY Potsdam. This is where you’ll come for big events like the Snow Ball Dance or the Student Fashion Show, or to drop by the offices for student government, the campus newspaper or radio station. This is also where you’ll drop by to check your mailbox, pick up some SUNY Potsdam gear in the College Store or grab something to eat at the Union Dining Court.
