May 15: Please Do Not Come to Campus Until Approved

Dear Residential Students,

We have appreciated your patience while you wait to retrieve your remaining belongings. Please understand that while some areas of New York State are reopening, many restrictions are still in place statewide and in St. Lawrence County. While we will soon be able to start allowing students to come to campus to retrieve belongings, we continue to require your cooperation.

We cannot stress this enough: You cannot return to campus without an appointment.  You will not have access to your building and will be turned away without being able to collect your belongings if you arrive without permission.  In addition, you will likely be charged through the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards.

As regions reopen, students from those areas will receive an email and text from Residence Life.  Appointment times will start on Friday, May 22. Once you receive your appointment time, you will receive the guidelines that you must follow on campus to ensure your safety and that of others. In addition, you will receive information on how to contact other areas on campus to return or retrieve belongings (e.g. Crane, College Store, Libraries, Mailroom etc.). Again, you are not allowed on campus until you have a confirmed appointment.

Given that we are still in an active health pandemic, we must all continue to practice safety and caution. SUNY Potsdam’s top priority remains keeping our students, your families and our staff and community members safe and healthy.

We appreciate your continued cooperation.

Sincerely,
Eric Duchscherer
Interim Dean of Students
