June 1, 2020: Employee Update

Dear Faculty and Staff,

As part of Governor Cuomo’s “Moving New York Forward” phases and guidelines for reopening, the North Country region is now in phase two, which includes higher education administration offices.

SUNY System Administration has requested that all campuses submit a plan later this week for restarting all on-campus operations, including the return of all employees and students. This plan will be reviewed at both the SUNY and state levels. Thank you to all the scenario planning workgroup conveners and members for their work on these efforts. The College’s attention right now is on ensuring that measures are put into place to keep our employees safe.

While we have now chosen to approve telecommuting plans, to the greatest extent possible, through June 30 (see previously announced details online), we will soon begin to start phasing employees back to campus. Health and safety measures will be in place for all who return.

As a reminder, at this time, you should not be coming to campus unless you are identified as an essential employee and have approval from your supervisor. Anyone who needs access to their offices should contact Casey Nelson at nelsonca@potsdam.edu.

While so much remains unknown for the fall semester, our SUNY plan will address multiple scenarios. We are encouraging all teaching faculty to ensure that courses are prepared to be offered in a variety of ways, including in-person, hybrid, and fully distance learning. More information and resources to help with these preparations will be forthcoming from Bette Bergeron, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Thank you for all that you continue to do as we navigate this unprecedented time together.

Sincerely,

Melissa Proulx
Director of Human Resources
