Updates on Vaccination Information

January 14, 2021

Offices across campus have understandably received a number of questions over the past week regarding the rollout of COVID-19 vaccination programs in New York State and here in the North Country. We appreciate that this is a critical public health issue and that many of you are anxious to know more about eligibility details and how to receive your immunization once you qualify. The following is what we know at the moment; going forward, please continue to monitor all of these sources directly for the most up-to-date information.

New York State expanded its guidance on the initial distribution of the vaccine earlier this week, adding specific groups to the Phase 1a and 1b distribution. If you have questions about the definitions for these qualifying groups, we recommend that you continue to monitor the state COVID-19 vaccine website and updates from the Governor’s Office.

As you know, SUNY Potsdam was just named as an appointment-based state vaccination site location for the North Country region. We are proud to provide our facilities for such an important public health function. As a host institution, we will not handle details related to appointment scheduling or administration of immunizations. We are solely serving as the host site and will provide support as needed to ensure that the clinic is successful.

The Potsdam clinic, which will be located in the Maxcy Hall Fieldhouse, is now listed among the new state vaccination sites that will soon be available for appointments on the state website. Once our site is up and running, you will be able to fill out the eligibility questionnaire and book an appointment to receive an immunization here (if you are eligible). To check on your eligibility, visit https://am-i-eligible.covid19vaccine.health.ny.gov/.

To assist with initial launch of the vaccination site in Maxcy Hall, SUNY Potsdam is hosting approximately 30 members of the New York National Guard on campus. The National Guard members will assist with set-up, sanitizing, logistics and other support functions, as our site prepares to open to the public.
