Campus Life Events

The Campus Life office hosts a variety of events throughout the academic year. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Welcome Weekend: Move-in weekend is packed with fun activities and events! We kick-off the weekend with Convocation, where guest speakers present and welcome new students to campus. Throughout the weekend we host a variety of events each year.  Examples of past events include: a welcome picnic, fireworks, karaoke and game nights, outdoor movie, comedy shows, and open mics!
  • Welcome Weekend Carnival: Move-in weekend concludes with our Welcome Weekend Carnival.  Students have a chance to play games, enjoy some free food, meet different student clubs and organizations, win prizes, participate in free activities such as t-shirt tie-dying, indoor rock climbing, make your own stuffed animal, and much more!
  • First Saturday: Over 80 businesses downtown open their doors and offer fabulous deals and giveaways for both SUNY Potsdam and Clarkson University students at First Saturday, an event that is hosted on the first Saturday of the semester. Downtown Market Street is turned into a block party, where student a cappella, dance, and music groups perform, and club and organizations host various games. Students who go to eight or more businesses have a chance to win up to $100!
  • Winterfest: Departments and student clubs across campus help to kick off the Spring semester by hosting a wide variety of fun events! These events vary by year and can include Bear Pride Night/Student Organization Spirit Night, which is a chance to demonstrate your school spirit at one of the scheduled sports games, skiing/snowshoeing trips with Venture Outdoors, a variety of entertainers, the Canoe Swamp, a winter-themed Student Organization Fair, an A Cappella Showcase, and many more activities!
  • Student Organization & Involvement Fair: Clubs and organizations take over the Student Union and academic quad in order to promote their groups! Students are able to meet different student groups at this event and learn more about the clubs and organizations they are interested in.
