New York State Longitudinal Post-School Indicators Study

Since 1996, PIAR has received funding from the New York State Education Department. PIAR?s responsibilities include surveying thousands of students as high school seniors at one, three, and five years out of high school to determine what helps them succeed. PIAR works with designated State Education Department representatives in reporting on progress in conducting the survey and reporting the study.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Youth Transition Process Demonstration (YTPD)

Since 2003, PIAR has received funding from the Social Security Administration (SSA) for this project. SSA is conducting this project in six states for the purpose of helping youth with disabilities maximize their economic self-sufficiency as they transition from school to work. PIAR?s responsibilities include longitudinal data collection regarding student progress measures and outcomes for summative evaluation; and formative evaluation on systemic components.

University of Oregon

Since 2005, PIAR has been collaborating with the National Post-School Outcomes Center at the University of Oregon ( The PSO Center is charged with assisting states to meet the Federal SPP/APR 14 reporting requirements under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). In collaboration with the center staff, development activities have included identifying critical data elements, sampling procedures, data collection, analysis and reporting procedures. These documents and procedures are available for states to adopt to meet SSP/APR 14 reporting requirements. PIAR will pilot test many of these and will guide technical assistance to states. PIAR staff presented at the March 2006 National Forum on Post-School Outcomes and work with National Post-Secondary Outcomes.
