Crane School of Music Faculty Recital Features Music of Francis Poulenc

October 5, 2018

SUNY Potsdam’s Crane School of Music invites the public to enjoy a faculty chamber recital featuring the enchanting music of Francis Poulenc, on Monday, Oct. 15 at 7:30 p.m., in the Sara M. Snell Music Theater.

The concert will feature collaborative pianist Dr. Yoojung Kim, performing alongside fellow Crane faculty members Julianne Kirk Doyle (clarinet), Casey Grev (saxophone), Julie Miller (piano), Jill Rubio (flute) and Lorraine Yaros-Sullivan (mezzo-soprano).

The recital will highlight chamber music by French composer Francis Poulenc, including his sonatas for flute and piano, clarinet and piano, and piano four hands.

The program also includes the composer’s song cycle, “Banalités,” five melodies set to poetry by Guillaume Apollinaire, as well as a sonata for saxophone and piano written by Wijnand Van Klaveren in the style of Poulenc.

This concert is free, and the public is invited to attend.

This concert will be broadcast live on the Crane School of Music YouTube channel at the performance time. To view the program and see other upcoming streaming performances, visit www.potsdam.edu/academics/Crane/streaming.
