At SUNY Potsdam, we teach students the content and skills you need, while also fostering the creativity, curiosity and ingenuity that make for a successful career in any STEM discipline.
Materials & Resources
STEM is Materials & Resources STEM fields are responsible for the location, extraction, and production of the natural resources (e.g. mineral, biological, water) and materials that our society is built on. Jobs include positions in mining, agriculture, energy, forestry, fishing, cultural resource management, Park Service, and the Forest Service.
Society
STEM is Society STEM fields provide the tools and technologies that keep our society running while also making sure that our interactions with the planet are clean, safe, and sustainable. Some of the ways that STEM directly impacts society include the development of alternative/renewable energy sources, providing safe infrastructure, cybersecurity and financial systems, to even solving crimes with forensics.
Technology
STEM is TechnologySTEM fields are at the forefront of developing new technologies, deploying those technologies and finding the resources needed to build those technologies. Positions in the technology sector span a wide range from the burgeoning field of Nanoscience to traditional computer science and programing. Technology & Telephone Approval and Purchasing Guidelines
Strict requirements are in place and must be adhered to when preparing to purchase technology equipment. Regardless of the type of funds you are using, prior approval is required by CTS. This process will ensure that equipment is compatible with existing campus systems and can be supported by CTS. Failure to comply may result in equipment that cannot be supported by CTS.
Office of Student Accounts
The Student Accounts Office coordinates the billing process, handles all payments made toward students' accounts, manages the monthly payment plan, processes financial aid payments, disburses all refunds from over-payments, calculates refunds due to withdrawals and performs other miscellaneous financial functions.
