College is more than Classes!

The Student Government Association (SGA) provides a wide variety of activities, events and services for the students of SUNY Potsdam throughout the entire school year.

For information about student clubs, visit Clubs & Organizations. If you would like more information than is list on a club or organization, please contact the SGA office at (315) 267-2588.

How to Start a New SGA Organization

SGA welcomes and encourages the formation of new student organizations to add to the student experience at SUNY Potsdam.  This policy outlines the steps students must take to request the formation of a new organization to be recognized by SGA.  To best serve students and because SGAs resources are limited, each organization must have a unique purpose to ensure that something new is being added and that existing student organizations are able to fulfil their mission.

If you need assistance with this process, SGA is here to help. Please find a list of resource people below:

  1. SGA Vice President: The SGA Vice President is the primary contact for students wishing to start a new club.  You can email them at SGAvp@potsdam.edu or stop by the SGA Office, Student Union 213
  2. SGA Business Manager: Cindy Aumell, aumellcm@potsdam.edu, Student Union 213
  3. President’s Designee for SGA: Ruth Policella, policera@potsdam.edu, Student Union 208

Students can expect to see listings for the upcoming semester as early as seven months ahead of time. The list can also be faxed, emailed, or mailed to you, or may be picked up from the SGA Office.
