SUNY Potsdam’s Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE) coordinates the campus Planning & Assessment process to ensure that all administrative and student support services programs follow a uniform procedure that supports the Middle States Standards for Accreditation and Requirements of Affiliation.
While OIE is responsible for maintaining institutional Planning & Assessment processes, the Vice Presidents and heads of the Administrative Offices have ultimate responsibility for utilizing assessment to support and document decision making processes in their respective institutional areas.
All administrative services and student support services programs follow the following process:
- By June 15 of each 4 year cycle (See Reporting and Action Plan Schedule (PDF)), administrative units will submit an assessment report and revised plan for each of their programs to their Vice President or Unit head.
Because of COVID-19 pandemic, the dates for the 2020 submission has been extended to September 1st.
- Vice Presidents and Unit heads should review the Assessment Reports and revised Plans with each area between June 15th and August 15th.
Because of COVID-19 pandemic, the dates for the 2020 review has been changed to between September 1st and September 30th.
- By August 15th the final reports and plans should be submitted by the Vice President or Unit head to the OIE who will then post the final versions on the OIE webpage. OIE will keep an archive of past plans and reports.

Administrative units that change or add goals, amend or create additional assessment instruments or activities throughout the year should submit a new and updated Assessment Plan to their Vice President or Unit Head who can then submit the revised plan to the OIE in order to keep all Planning documents current.
