Krista LaVack hails from Mississauga, Ontario and is a Canadian citizen with permanent residency in the U.S. She lives in Massena, NY with her husband Brian, son Jake, and daughter Molly. Krista earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario with a major in Canadian Native Studies. While completing her BA, Krista participated in a study abroad experience for 10 months in Chiang Mai, Thailand. It was this experience that made Krista want to pursue her career in international education. More recently, Krista completed a Master of Science in Education degree from SUNY Potsdam with a major in Information & Communication Technology and a concentration in Organizational Leadership.
Krista has worked at SUNY Potsdam since 1999 and has been the current Director of International Education & Programs (IEP) since 2006. The Office of International Education & Programs oversees study abroad programs for students wishing to spend part of their academic career abroad, provides assistance to international students who come to study at SUNY Potsdam, and offers advice and assistance to students, faculty, and staff who are interested in an international dimension to their study, teaching, or research.
