What is a waitlist?
A waitlist allows students to indicate interest in a course that is currently full.
Can I be added to the waitlist for ANY course?
Students must meet all eligibility requirements to register for the course (i.e., has taken pre-req/class level/school/has no time conflict/hasn't reached credit limit/major restriction/has no holds preventing registration) unless an approved override was applied for that specific course (override process remains the same as before – faculty must notify the Registrar’s Office).
How do I join a waitlist?
When you try to register for a course that is full, you will receive an error message that says the course is full. You will click the dropdown to add yourself to the waitlist.
What happens if a seat becomes available?
If a seat opens, the first student in line on the waitlist will be notified and given a limited time (24 hours) to register for the course.
How will I know if a seat becomes available?
You will receive an automated notification via your campus email from the Registrar.
How long do I have to register after being notified?
Students will have a 24-hour window from the time of notification to register before the seat is offered to the next student on the waitlist.
What if I miss the registration window?
If you do not register within the designated time frame, the opportunity will pass to the next student on the waitlist.
Should I register for another course while waitlisted?
Yes. Students are encouraged to register for alternative courses in case a seat does not become available.
Can advisors add students to the waitlist?
No, students must add themselves through BearPAWS.
Can students join multiple waitlists?
Yes, but you should plan backup schedules.
What happens if I get into a waitlisted class, but my schedule is full?
Students are responsible for adjusting their schedules if they choose to register for a course offered from the waitlist.
If I decline at the time of notification, can I put myself back on the waitlist?
Yes, but you will go to the end of the list.
Does joining the waitlist guarantee enrollment in the course?
No. There is no guarantee that a seat will open up nor that you will be reachable on the list if one does.
