A new look and feel is coming to BearPAWS (Self-Service Banner)
Throughout the fall 2025 semester, we will be rolling out a new user interface due to the current version of BearPAWS no longer being supported.
FAQS
Support for our current version is being terminated at the end of the 2025 calendar year. Also, the new version has improved accessibility and mitigates security risks.
Faculty, staff, students and those with guest access who currently use BearPAWS in their respective areas will be affected by this upgrade.
No. The current user interface will no longer be available.
The new version has a modernized user interface with improved navigation and accessibility. While the pages look and feel are different, they contain all the same, and more, functionalities that you are already familiar with in BearPAWS. Go online for additional information on how preferred name, gender identity, and chosen pronouns will be displayed in the BearPAWS 9.
Should you need specific training on any BearPAWS functionality, please contact the registrar (registrar@potsdam.edu) who will coordinate with your office to ensure that your needs are met.
Yes, you will use the same username and password – your CCA.

Helpful Hints
- Log in to BearPAWS
 - On the Faculty Services tab, select “Final Grades”
 - On the “Faculty Grade Entry- Final Grades" page, all past and current classes will be listed.
- Use the search bar on the right side of the screen to find your current classes by either: o CRN, or
 - Semester and Year (e.g., Summer 2025 or 202507).

When searching by CRN:
- Enter the CRN in the search bar; the class roster will appear automatically.
 - After entering grades for that course, enter the next CRN to load another course.

When searching by Semester and Year:
- Enter the Semester and Year (e.g., Summer 2025 or 202507) in the search bar, a list of your courses will appear under “My Courses.”
 - Click on a course to display the “Enter Grades” roster below the course list.
 - To hide the “My Courses” panel, click the upward-facing triangle between the two sections. To reopen it, click the circle icon to reset the screen.
 - After submitting grades for one course, simply select the next course from the “My Courses” list.
 - On your “Enter Grades” roster, use the drop-down menu to the right of each student's name to assign a grade.
 - Submit a grade for each student - check to make sure no student is left with "Blank" as their grade. If a student has earned a grade of 0.0, a last date of attendance will need to be entered. If you do not enter a last date of attendance for those students, none of your grades will be saved.
 - Click on the "Save" button at the bottom of the roster to save your grade(s). A message will pop-up in the upper right corner, letting you know that the save was successful, and the grades were submitted. Please also note, you can continue to input and change your submitted grades up until the Final Grades deadline. If there is no option for a grade for a specific student, please contact registrar@potsdam.edu and we will investigate the issue.
 - Submit grades for every roster for which you are the primary instructor, including all Tutorials and Internships.
 - Be sure to log off of your BearPAWS account by clicking the "EXIT" button to prevent unauthorized access to confidential information.
