This program is designed for working and aspiring educators. Prepare for your initial certification (Birth-Grade 6 or Grades 5-12), or complete professional certification requirements. This program is offered entirely online.

The M.S.Ed. Educational Technology Specialist is a fully online 30 credit-hour graduate program. Upon completion of the program, students with an existing NYS certification will be recommended for an initial NYS Educational Technology Specialist certification. Throughout the course of their studies students will hone their interpersonal and technology skills and work collaboratively with K-12 faculty and staff to create and manage highly engaging learning environments.

The M.S. in Instructional Design and Educational Technology (IDET) is a fully online 30 credit-hour graduate program. Courses in this program emphasize the creation and management of highly engaging in-person and online learning environments. From the Army to the Classroom

Scott Elliot ’21 has always wanted to be a teacher. After spending nearly 22 years as a musician in the U.S. Army, he’s turning that dream into a reality, as he pursues his master’s degree from SUNY Potsdam in childhood education, studying in Watertown. For more than two decades, he traveled the world playing his saxophone and clarinet to improve relations with other counties and support the troops, while he was stationed in Panama, Japan and Iraq. Now, he’s back on U.S. soil, with three Meritorious Service Medals and real-world experience that will bolster his efforts in the classroom, as he follows his path to becoming a teacher.

Finding Peace in Potsdam

Born and raised in New York City, Laneise Goggans ’15 & ’22 found a new home when she enrolled at SUNY Potsdam. After receiving her undergraduate degree, she returned to the city and immediately launched a career as a dance teacher at a charter school in Brooklyn. Now she’s back in Potsdam, pursuing a master’s degree in education while raising her twin boys, in a community that has always felt like home.
