The Community Performance Series will present the high-energy STEM performance “Doktor Kaboom: Under Pressure!” on Tuesday, March 3 at 7 p.m. in the Proscenium Theater at the SUNY Potsdam Performing Arts Center.

Commissioned by the Kennedy Center, this interactive show blends live science experiments with physical comedy and interactive storytelling to engage and entertain audiences of all ages.

Be amazed by the power of pressure—and what it can teach us—in this interactive show, perfect for youth in Grades 3 to 7, along with their families. The show is especially well-suited for elementary through middle school students, while remaining entertaining and meaningful for adults.

Audience participation is central to the experience, with volunteers joining Doktor Kaboom onstage to assist with demonstrations and experiments. Through humor and hands-on science, the show introduces foundational physical science concepts, while also exploring real-world themes of stress, resilience, and problem-solving.

“’Doktor Kaboom: Under Pressure!’ is a fantastic experience, with educational content presented in a hilarious and exciting format that will help to motivate future generations of scientists and researchers,” said Kendall Mostafavi of DC Theater Arts. “The show works toward normalizing speaking up for yourself, sharing feelings, and the importance of physical and emotional support.”

The run-time of this program is about 60 minutes.

Pre-show STEM activity with the North Country Children's Museum

Audience members are invited to arrive early for a hands-on STEM activity where kids can send ping-pong balls soaring through the air using a homemade cannon powered by chemical reactions! The pre-show event will take place in the PAC Lobby starting at 6:30 p.m., immediately prior to the performance.

Tickets for the public performance are on sale now and may be purchased online at www.cpspotsdam.org. Ticket prices are $12 for adults and $7 for children.

Tickets are also available for in-person purchase at the SUNY Potsdam Box Office, located in the lobby of the Performing Arts Center. The box office is open Tuesday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
