SUNY Potsdam’s Crane School of Music Welcomes Back Vocalist Cecilia Snow ’14 for Musical Theater Masterclass

Cecilia Snow ’14 led a public masterclass focused on musical theater repertoire for vocal students at SUNY Potsdam’s Crane School of Music on Oct. 23.

Six students at SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music were chosen to take part in a vocal masterclass led by professional musical theater performer Cecilia Snow ’14 on Oct. 23.

The vocalists included:

  • Emily Buliung of Warwick, N.Y.
  • Lesa Charles of Brooklyn, N.Y.
  • Manny Coleman of Fayetteville, N.Y.
  • Gabriela Jimenez of Port St. Lucie, Fla.
  • Mia Twyman of Middletown, N.Y.
  • Liam Yerdon of Altamont, N.Y.

The public masterclass focused on musical theater repertoire, and was followed by a question-and-answer session.

A 2014 graduate of Crane, Snow graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance, studying voice with Deborah Massell. The winner of the 2024 Rising Star Award from SUNY Potsdam’s Alumni Association, she is the third generation of her family to graduate from Crane. Her grandparents, Barbara and the late Paul Aldi, her mother, Lenore Aldi-Snow, and her brother Geoffrey Snow are all Crane graduates. Cecilia’s husband, Zach Kelley, is also an alum.

A triple threat performer, Snow is a talented vocalist, dancer and actor. She recently spent 13 months as the dance captain/swing/cover for the roles of Catherine of Aragon, Jane Seymour, and Anne of Cleves, three of the queens in the national Broadway tour of “Six,” a modern retelling of the lives of the six wives of Henry VIII, presented in the form of a pop concert. During the tour, Cecilia performed in 33 cities across the United States.

As an undergraduate, Snow starred in the demanding role of Sarah in the Crane Opera Ensemble production of “Ragtime.” She later was featured in the ensemble and covered that same role as a professional in the national tour, directed by Marcia Milgram Dodge.

Snow has toured Japan with Disney on Classic, sang in a masterclass for Tony Award winner Kelli O'Hara, and performed in productions with Latoya London of “American Idol” and Tony winner Alice Ripley. A favorite production of hers was performing in The Muny production of “Sweeney Todd,” starring Ben Davis and Carmen Cusack, in St. Louis. She also performed in The Muny production of “Les Misérables.”

You can currently find Snow Off-Broadway at New World Stages in “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” covering Olive, Logainne and Rona—as well as acting as the dance captain. Snow’s favorite credits include “A Christmas Story” (Miss Shields), “The Bodyguard” (Nicki Marron), “Ragtime” (Sarah), and “Songs for a New World” (Woman 1).  She has also performed alongside Broadway’s Patti Murin, American Idol’s LaToya London and Tony nominee Carmen Cusack.
