SUNY Potsdam Students Present ‘A New World,’ a Musical Theatre Showcase Sponsored by LoKo Arts, on Feb. 20 & 21
SUNY Potsdam will host the LoKo Arts musical theatre showcase, “A New World,” on Feb. 20 and 21 in the Performing Arts Center.
SUNY Potsdam students will present “A New World,” a musical theatre showcase sponsored by the LoKo Arts program, with three performances scheduled this weekend. Fully produced and performed by students from SUNY Potsdam and The Crane School of Music, the annual showcase highlights emerging talent in musical theatre, performance and creative production.
The show will be staged in the Proscenium Theater at the Performing Arts Center on Friday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m., and Saturday, Feb. 21 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. All performances are free and open to the public.
This year’s LoKo Arts showcase, “A New World,” is centered on the hopefulness of imagining and striving toward a better world for us all. Through stories of life, love and the powerful choices people make in extraordinary moments, the showcase invites audiences to reflect on resilience, connection and possibility.
The selection of music spans a wide range of styles, from contemporary musical theatre to timeless classics that many people know and love, creating a program that feels both fresh and familiar. Together, these songs celebrate the idea that even in times of uncertainty, new worlds can be built through courage, compassion and hope.
This LoKo Arts project was made possible by the generosity and artistic vision of Kathryn (Kofoed) '54 and Donald Lougheed (Hon.'54).
