Community Health Internship Coordinator Vacancy

The Community Health department at SUNY Potsdam is accepting on-line applications for a full-time Community Health Internship Coordinator to begin June 30, 2017. The Internship Coordinator will identify, establish, and maintain the Community Health Internship (both graduate and undergraduate). Duties include maintaining close relationships with internship site supervisors, supervision and evaluation of student work, instruction of a pre-internship seminar, assisting students to identify appropriate health promotion internship sites, collaboration with international partners and Community Health faculty, and instruction of the Community Health minor senior seminars. Additional responsibilities include undergraduate advising, support of department programs, and University/public service.

Requirements: Educational background in the field of Community Health, Health Promotion, Public Health or a very closely related discipline. BS/BA and MS or MPH required. Strong organizational and communication skills, thorough knowledge of the field of public health and the ability to discern appropriate student placements, ability to communicate the competencies and skills of students entering the community health field, knowledge of local community health agencies, strong writing and student assessment skills.  Local and regional travel as well as availability on some evenings/weekends is required.  We are seeking candidates who possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues and who have demonstrated a commitment to creating, fostering and sustaining an inclusive environment in and out of the classroom. 

Preferred qualifications: Experience working in community-based health education programs and experience participating in an academic internship, full time/full semester also preferred.  We are seeking candidates who have engaged in professional development activities to enhance knowledge of diversity, equity and inclusion and have worked collaboratively across various departments in fostering success of underrepresented groups and a supportive and inclusive environment for all.
