Counseling Center Vacancy

The College's Counseling Center invites applications for a 10-month, part-time, temporary Counselor to work 3 days/week.  The counselor will provide a wide range of clinical services at this comprehensive counseling center, including triage, individual and group psychotherapy, consultation, and crisis assessment/ response. The position includes weekend and weekday after-hours responsibilities. In addition, case management responsibilities for all students using the services will include coordination and communication with off-campus mental health providers and on-campus resources. 

Required qualifications:  A master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling or Social Work, prior experience in dealing with crisis situations, ability to follow through and work both independently as well as part of a team with a positive attitude, demonstrated multicultural competence in mental health service provision, and licensed or license eligible in New York State. 

In addition, the person in this position will be expected to possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues.  Previous experience at a college/university counseling center with short term therapy models. Previous experience in providing case management services.  Effective use and management of multiple technological tools (e.g., Electronic Health Records, PowerPoint, social media applications).
